Women the Future and Past

Close to the city of Paithan, in a small village called Sauviragram, which lay along the banks of the great river Godavari, lived a woman named Ilaa. Being cotton farmers, her family was well to do, but not among the richest in their area. It was the harvest season, and cotton had to be picked from the plants. The wholesalers and traders from Paithan would be arriving in just a few weeks, carrying gold and goods for barter. They would exchange what they carried for the cotton that the farmers grew. The bales of cotton had to be ready in time! Work was at its peak!
But Ilaa was not to be found in the fields. She wasn’t working. Instead, she was sitting by the banks of the great river Godavari.
‘I am sick of this!’ she grunted loudly.
Ilaa was clearly upset about something. She was in not in her usual functional state of mind to work that day. Ilaa, throughout her life had been very respectful to her elders, blindly obeying their orders, always in agreement to what they said, following the conventional life of a woman in Sauviragram .But now she couldn’t take the injustice any more, she had to show the people that even she had her own philosophy, even she had dreams, even she wanted her to live life in her way. Now she had no other choice but to revolt, express herself, stand up against the injustice, stand for her rights. She wanted to prove that women can lead the people of the Satavanha Empire
Paithan, capital of the great Satavanha Empire, was well known for its cultural and educational developments. Almost every person in the empire including women were educated to the minimum requirements so as to lead a self-independent life. This was the empire where rulers added their mothers name to their names, treated women as Goddess, celebrated and honored women through their religious, cultural festivals. But recently this ideal situation was changing. Over the past years women were mistreated, not given equal importance in their houses, made to work in cotton fields, whereas their brothers and fathers would run the buisness, train for the army and various administrative posts.
Ilaa wanted to join the administrative post of the Defence. She had passed all the pre requisites of the post. She had proved to be physically and mentally stronger than rest of the participants. But she wasn’t selected by the royal council, because they didn’t believe that a woman can lead the huge army of such a great empire to battle and succeed. The king was a respectful man. He was known for his respectful attitude towards women. He named his son after his wife and himself after his mother. He made it an annual ritual to honor the brave girls during the cultural ceremonies. King Dhrivendra didn’t know about this incident with Ilaa. He would have never let this happen, but It was the councils duty to shortlist the potential candidates, and they didn’t select Ilaa even though she passed the test, the council was backward regarding women and this was the problem for Ilaa.
Ilaa was sitting on a rock at the banks of the “Ganga of the south”. The Godavari River was a spiritual  point for the locals, there was a huge Mahadev temple along its banks and people came here regularly to offer their prayer. The river ran through the Satavanha Empire and was the source of water for the farmers. This was also the most favorite destination in the village among couples who spent their evenings holding each other looking at the river flow. She always came here for inspiration and meditation. But today she was angry, she was looking at the water, which was flowing in full force, creating noisy turbulences as they hit the rocks. Her eyes were bright red, rebellious thoughts flowing in her mind just like the Godaveri River.
Just then, Vishwaksena came to the banks. He was the Prince, son of the great King. He saw Ilaa sitting on the banks staring at the river. She had called him there. Vishwaksena scanned his beautiful girlfriend from behind. Ilaa was wearing one of the famous Paithani saree, it was white and transparent. Her back was clearly visible from behind. The saree only covered one-fourth of her body, rest was a treat to watch. Her clear golden brown skin radiating in the sun, the arch of her back showed her vertebral bones. Just at her waist was her white cloth tied around hanging, covering everything below her waist, but revealing a major portion of her toned thighs and legs. Her feet were bare. She was looking her best.
As Vishwak approached her, she turned back on hearing the sound.
‘Vishwak…….You came.Thanks….’She approached Vishwak to hug him.
Her frontal view was even more amazing. Her white saree was folded into a thin strip of cloth, running along her body diagnolly, revealing almost everything , but sadly she wore a white(not transparent) blouse revealing a descent amount of cleavage, the blouse attached behind  by thin strips of cloth delicately, it looked as if it would loose its grip at any moment. But it held miraculously. Her abdomen was clearly visible showing her amazing curves and her navel. She was better than the Godaveri. Vishwak thought
She hugged Vishwak tightly. Vishwak pressed her even more tightly feeling her body. Then she let go.
They both went to the banks and sat on one of their favorite rocks. Ilaa was sitting with Vishwak holding her hands. He didn’t want to leave her. He started kissing on her shoulder, she moved away almost pushing him. She was not here for Romance.
She started ‘This system is unfair, it does not give women the chance we deserve. We deserve to be judged based on our merits, not because we are women. We deserve a higher position in our work place because we are worthy of it ’
‘Yes …I know and I have spoken to father about this issue. He didn’t know about this….So I have some good news……tomorrow there will be a discussion held in the palace court about your appointment in The Defence. My father will be there. I will be there. The council will be there. You just have to tell your point……My father will understand…..If not’ Ilaa turned to Vishwak .
‘If not …then….then what’ her voice trembling.
‘I will make him understand’ Vishwak smiled widely. Ilaa smiled and rested her head on his strong shoulders ‘Thank you Vishwak…Thank you…..I Love you’.
Viswak kissed her forehead and they both sat there admiring the beauty of Godavari for a long time.

The next day. At the palace court. This meeting was called by the King Dhrivendra, ruler of the Satavanha Empire. The court contained the Seven Royal council members, The King, The queen and Vishwak. Ilaa was standing at the center of the hall. The courtroom was a huge hall with the King, Queen, Prince sitting on their heavily decorated gold plated chair at the front. The chairs for the seven Royal council members were arranged in the form of semicircle starting after the seats of Royal family and ending at the middle of the wall. Ilaa was standing at the center of the semicircle. She was visible to all and everyone were visible to her. The general public wasn’t allowed. This was internal affairs. The ceiling was occupied by wonderful paintings of Dhrivendra’s mother, wife and all the brave women of the empire. There were seven pillars behind the chair of each council member. There was one huge pillar not connected to the ceiling with painting of his Mother holding him when he was born. There was a horizontal gold slab above the Royal seat with words inscribing ‘Jai Satavanha’ showing a women raising her sword at the Sun. It was their symbol.
Before coming here, Illa had asked her parents permission to go to the court to fight for her position but they refused to do so. They never supported Ilaa in such matters. They wanted her to become a housewife like her mother. She used to go to work every day to pick the cotton boles and hand them to her father, who used to sell it to the merchants from Paithan for gold. This was how they survived. Their cotton farm was yielding well in the past few years and they were getting wealthy but not as wealthy as others. This year their cotton grew faster, thicker and they were hoping that with good barter, they would finally be rich like others. But Ilaa had other plans. Her parents didn’t support her, but she supported herself and left the house against their will. She made the right decision.

The process began. Dhrivendra spoke ‘First the council members’.
One of the council members, their leader spoke ‘Your majesty, it is simple. A woman is not capable of leading the mighty Satavanha army. A woman cannot hold herself against the mighty soldiers. It is simply not possible physically and mentally for a woman to manage the battle. We don’t need any proof for this. It is the way of life. So …your majesty, I ask you to give this woman a smaller post in our kingdom which she will be able to handle. All the seven of us think the same way……Your majesty’ This would have been enough in any other kingdom. But not here.
‘Ilaa’ Dhrivendra turned to her. It was her chance now.
‘Good morning you majesty, Good morning to the respected council members’ She bowed before the King, then bowed before the council members. She looked at Vishwak, gave him a smile. Vishwak’s mind still thinking about her yesterday and now thinking about what they would do after court. He needed the decision to go in favor of Ilaa. To enjoy later.
‘Yes...you are right….women might be physically weaker, but that is according to you. Majesty I have succeeded in the test, better than anyone else. I deserve this post. I am ready to work hard for this. I will give my life for this kingdom. We women are much stronger than you expect us to be. We can kill for other, we can die for others, we can give birth to others. We can do whatever you can, that and even better’ tears were rolling down her face. Her eyes showed her emotions. She looked like a warrior goddess.
The King had made up his mind. But wanted to listen for more. The Queen was proud to be a woman. She smiled with pride. It was inspirational.
‘Majesty….I believe, I can defend this empire with honor and can bring about the peace everyone deserves. I can make women more confident about themselves and help this kingdom flourish with greatness. And this case, it’s not only mine……this is for all the women who have been ill treated, who have not got the respect they deserve. So my majesty please consider this case as a fight against injustice to women. That’s all your Majesty’. Ilaa retreated.
King rose ‘The verdict is clear, so are my intentions, women in my kingdom will be respected, honored and treated equally. They will be given posts which they deserve. Women are the present and future of this nation.’
Tears rolled down her face. She was crying heavily. But she won the battle. She believed in herself and she got what she wanted. She proved that Women were, are and always will be the strongest force on this planet. They are Gods.
She went on to be the greatest warrior of the Satavanha Empire.
Women are the future of this nation.

The Night to remember

Nishanth and Vishwas entered the pub. It was a Saturday evening and the roomates decided to spend their weekend drinking after a hectic week. They were both postgraduate students in Orthopedics and finally they got some free time after working two days continuous under the orders of their Hitler boss.
They didn’t have any other friends and always used to hang out with each other. They were best friends and roommates.
They sat at the bar counter, ordered their usual Budweiser and both of them drank it simultaneously till they finished half of the bottle. The drink relaxed their minds and now they could scan the room for some hot, single ladies. They desperately needed some sexual activity to help them gain some confidence and to regenerate their energy for the next week. Sex could regenerate their energy levels,   big time.
Nishanth spotted an unstable couple near his corner. The boy looked old for his age, with a shabby beard which would have suited anyone else but him, he was unattractive. They were sitting on a sofa, with his one hand he was holding his drink and the other gripped around his girlfriend’s waist tightly almost squeezing her fair skin, he was already wasted and the alcohol was controlling him now. His girlfriend on the other hand was absolutely sensational. She was hot and beautiful. She was wearing a loose, plain, black, short top which would reach only till just below her breast revealing her midriff and her wonderful, toned abdomen. She wore tight, blue jeans which showcased her beautiful toned legs and thighs. Amazing body she had and her drunk boyfriend didn’t deserve to touch it, but like most couples the most idiotic, unattractive males get the hottest girls. It has always been this way.
The boy was forcefully pulling her towards him, kissing and licking her neck. The girl was clearly uncomfortable and she resisted him many times but failed, he was a muscular guy. He wanted to feel her more, so he put down his glass and used both his hands with full force, he pulled her face and kissed her tight. She pushed him as hard as she could but nothing happened. Then his hands slowly moved to her breasts. She couldn’t tolerate any more. She pushed him again and this time, he let go because of the constant irritation.
Nishanth and Vishwas were watching this from their chairs, they should have intervened but didn’t. Then finally they saw her getting up and walking away toward them. She walked fast and sat next to Nishanth, but her boyfriend also followed and reached. He pulled her hand, but she resisted. He forced her out, she was almost dragged but suddenly he felt a tug and couldn’t pull her anymore. Vishwas was holding her other hand.
The boyfriend turned slowly and saw this. His eyes were red.
He took a step forward, it was going to be a brawl and Nishanth was scared from the inside. He was no match for his enemy.
But then Vishwas stepped in front of him. Nishanth was saved.
The boyfriend saw this and because Vishwas was a strong guy, he had no choice but to retreat. The roomies had won.
The guy left. Nishanth was still holding his girlfriend’s hand. She slowly looked at him, she was much more beautiful than far.
They sat together. Her name was Shravya and she had just broken up, perfect for a one night stand. Nishanth found his date. He turned towards Vishwas for helping him and realized that Vishwas also found his date. He was busy talking to her. She was one of the juniors from the same college they were studying and she had come to the pub with her friends for the weekend. This place was a hotspot.
Nishanth and Vishwas impressed their ladies with their charm, good looks and finally took them home.
The next day, Nishanth woke up, surprised not to find Shravya in his bed. He clearly remembers their last night and how he had enjoyed it. It was the best sex he ever had in his life. Shravya was wild and granted him access to any part of her body for unlimited time, he had made the most of it and enjoyed her. He could still smell her scent from the bed sheets and to his surprise all her clothes were still lying on the floor. She wasn’t in the bathroom, but how could she leave without clothes. He then thought, maybe she wore something else. He didn’t care. He felt happy and full of energy, ready to start the week.
He went to the hall, found his roommate relaxing, sipping his coffee, reading the newspaper.
‘How was last night’ Vishwas asked. A naughty grin spread across his face.
Even his last night was eventful, his date was even better. He too was fresh and looked to start his week.
Nishanth ignored the question, he wanted to know if Shravya left ‘what time did Shravya leave………she left her clothes man’
Vishwas smiled, then laughed loudly ‘you have no idea ah………….’
Nishanth was confused ‘What are you talking about’
Vishwas got up and went to his bedroom, Nishanth followed. Vishwas opened the door and held it with his one hand indicating Nishanth to enter,
Nishanth entered. He saw two beautiful, nude backs lying on his bed. One was Shravya and the other, the other girl.
Nishanth was shocked, he turned towards Vishwas.
Vishwas smiled, closed the door slowly and went to the hall. Nishanth followed him like a dog.
Vishwas sat, took a sip of his coffee and revealed ‘after you and Shravya finished your activity and you slept off……..actually dude you were high and dosed off early, she wasn’t satisfied, so she came to my room and joined us.’
Nishanth eyes widened, he couldn’t believe but again he wasn’t serious about her. So he relaxed.
Vishwas continued ‘I enjoyed the threesome for some time, but soon I realized that they were more interested in themselves than me. So I left and came to the hall. Turns out they did enjoy last night. They are Bi dude’
There was complete silence for some time. Then they started laughing together and finally stopped. It was an awesome night.
After some time Vishwas slowly got up, came close to Nishanth.
‘They are Bi’ he exclaimed.
Vishwas took his roomates hand ‘So are we’ he smiled.
They went to the room. Closed the door.

Life is fair when it needs to be

Ragahv, was alone on the beach. Only the upper one third of the sun was visible and the sky was bright orange. It was the start of the summer season but the weather was cool and pleasant. It was the perfect start to what would be a beautiful evening.
But for Raghav it was an exception, he had just experienced the worst day of his life. His company had just hit rock bottom, he was bankrupt and he himself was the reason for it. It wasn’t bad economy, shares or any other financial factors that caused the loss, it was his big risk taking attitude that did the trick.
Raghav, was self-made, first generation entrepreneur who had started a repair services startup along with his engineer friends and converted it into a multi-million dollar giant. He wasn’t an engineer, he was a second year medical student when he ventured into this. Raghav had an aim of changing the world and a big fan of Steve Jobs, so just like the legend he started working early and it paid off. His old school friend had talked about the project to provided cheap, quick repairs for the electronics and also provide home delivery. Since the initial investment wasn’t much Raghav agreed to be the investor and with his inspiring and determined attitude, he also inspired the team members and finally the hard work paid off.
But the success had made him arrogant, and now he had taken the bad decision of risking all his shares on a software startup and now he faced the consequences. His team member unanimously decided to remove him and now he was jobless and broke.
He even lost his girlfriend a week back, but the break up didn’t affect him until now. His work and arrogance caused her to leave but since he was enjoying success a then it didn’t bother him. Now he was alone and he thought about her for the first time since the breakup.
His family situation was already bad. He had left home when he was in his second year of medical school. When he asked his father money for the startup and was rejected, he left home, he didn’t fight, just left. It was a brave and was the right decision at the time. But now he was regretting, he missed his parents and wanted to go back.
This was the best comparison one can make with God, parents. We only think of them when we need them.
Raghav put his hands to the face and pinched his fingers across his eyes wiping his tears, then shook his head trying to clear his thoughts.
Finally he looked around the beach and noticed a young couple making love just a few meters away from him. Actually they were there, busy with each other before Raghav had come and even he didn’t seem to notice them because he was too depressed. Now he not only noticed but also was starting to enjoy them move. They were really good at it.
The girl was over the boy and she was kissing him passionately, with her hands holding his face. She was controlling the act. After a few seconds of intense kissing she lifted her head and sat upright on him. She slowly slid along his chest and sat comfortably on his waist, her hands were on his chest. They were breathing heavily, they needed a break.
The girl was amazingly hot. She was a youngster in her early twenties. She was wearing a tight, short, white, delicate, soft sleeveless tank top which ended just above her navel, revealing her beautiful well shaped lower abdomen. Her shorts were unbuttoned, tight at the back showing the beautiful curve, almost whole of her legs were showcased and she had the best long, shining legs. The boy was enjoying this, he slowly ran his hands smoothly along her legs, to her thighs and finally rested on her ass, he squeezed it tight once and then left.
It was again the typical present day couple, the girl was hot and the boy was an idiotic drug addict and was one of the worst looking man on this planet. Typical and the present trend. Raghav was never able to understand this logic, why do the worst boys get the best girls. He had thought a lot about this and finally after several unsuccessful attempts to find even a proper theory, he just felt bad for the girls, It was their fate.
After regaining their breath, they resumed kissing. Raghav himself had struggled to get his girlfriend, even though he was almost perfect in every way, good looking, successful and all but his other classmates found better girls and faster.
Again his thoughts drifted back to his life, his failure. Raghav was always a determined, focused person and wanted to do something great, he achieved it early, but now he was lost.
His mind was pouring with all the thought, the emotions, the past, the future.
His phone rang and alerted him back to the world. It was some investor interested to fund him.
The investor was richly impressed with how Raghav converted the startup rapidly to a giant company, he believed in Raghav’s risks.
He got a second chance.

The Girl's mistake

Radhika was tired and completely exhausted, she had almost seen around 20 patients now, 7 of them were new admissions, and the remaining were just follow ups. There was one more patient to go. Before moving to the next patient, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes and acted as if she inhaled energy from the surrounding air. Now she was ready for her final patient.
The patient was a 56 year old female, married with five kids. She was a new case, and her name was Vijaylakshmi. She was a local, belonging to low socio-economic status. She came with chief complaints of mass in left breast. Radhika had already had the diagnosis in her mind without even touching the patient, carcinoma breast. Radhika examined her breast. She inspected and palpated the left breast. The mass was located in the outer upper quadrant of the left breast, it was stony hard in consistency, and non-tender, immobile indicating that it was attached to the chest wall. She complained of hemoptysis (coughing of blood) which also indicated that cancer had metastasized to her lungs. This was almost at its terminal stage. Treatment was chemotherapy and Radiation therapy, which was expensive and definitely not affordable by the patient. Radhika analyzed everything. Now it was time to tell her patient the bad news.

Radhika reached home, she fell on her favorite chair by the window and sipped her Starbucks which she collected on her way home. It was a daily ritual for her to drink her favorite coffee at night. She lived in a posh four bedroom apartment in a suburban area. She lived alone but she had a boyfriend, so at least three days a week he was there. Nikhil was a first generation entrepreneur/businessman, he along with his best friend started a chain of themed restaurants all over the city and now these food joints were very popular among the students and was a huge success. So Nikhil was a rich, handsome, 32 year old male and Radhika was rich, beautiful, 29 year old female.
Radhika had just finished her DM in Oncology a year back and she was working in her mother’s multi-specialty hospital. She was a dedicated, hardworking doctor and her only aim in life was to save people. She was also engaged in a lot of social services, NGOs and always tried her best to help poor people. She was considered to be one of the upcoming Oncologists in the city and she was definitely working to achieve it.
Radhika was particularly stressed about her patient, Vijay Lakshmi. It wasn’t the fact that her patient who would be dying in the near future, leaving her kids alone in this world that troubled her. It was the financial battle she was undergoing with a big firm that she was more worried about.
Vijay Lakshmi owned around a lot of land on the outskirts of the city, it was considered useless land till one of the big business firm had approached, claiming that the land was government owned and they had the permission from the government to claim it. All they needed was her signature. In reality the land was too expensive, even for a big firm like them. So they had to use dirty tricks. She refused and agreed to give it only for the deserving amount or else she would give it to her kids and let them decide after she died. She wanted to sell only a part of the land just enough to pay the medical bills and the rest of it she would keep for the kids, but Radhika had told her not to worry about the money. The treatment would be done for free. She knew that she was going to die anyways. At least let her kids live in peace. Radhika had promised her patient to help her in this matter.
Nikhil also supported the Radhika in this case. Radhika had filed a case, but this case would take a long time to get settled. So Radhika had asked Nikhil to settle this case out of court.
The next day in the evening. She sat in the Starbucks café, sipping her coffee and staring outside of the window. The blood stained knife lay next to her handbag, covered with her blue silk scarf.
Nikhil was crying, his hands were covering his face. Radhika didn’t move from her chair, she didn’t even try to console him. She was motionless and emotionless. Finally he said ‘I didn’t know what to do. I had no other choice.’
Radhika didn’t respond. Last night she had asked him to set up a meeting with the big firm who was also his best friend to settle this issue about Vijay Lakshmi. But what happened was completely unexpected. The meeting was going fine until Nikhil put forward his point strongly. This lead to an argument which evolved into a fist fight. During this fight when they were pushing each other, his friend had accidently landed on a knife and he died. It wasn’t Nikhil’s fault directly, but he knew he was the cause of this.
He explained everything in detail to Radhika. She felt responsible for this, for what happened to him. Nikhil was just her boyfriend. He loved her and supported her, but she involved him directly into this and he was now on the verge of going to jail.
She slowly dragged the knife to her side, covered with her silk scarf. She stared outside the window in deep thoughts. Emotions were running high, but she didn’t show any of it. She looked calm.
After a few minutes she turned to Nikhil ‘Don’t worry about what happened, I will handle it. But you take care of the case’ she said clearly.
Nikhil who was crying, suddenly stopped and looked up ‘What…..how will you handle it’ he stammered. He noticed that Radhika had the knife with her.
His pupils dilated, his mouth was wide open ‘No, Radhika…….don’t do it.’ She showed her palm. He stopped.
‘I have plan, you take care of the case of Vijay Lakshmi. I will take responsibility of this matter.’ Before Nikhil opened his mouth she continued.
‘This is how the plan is going to be, I will tell them that there was a constant threat to Vijay Lakshmi from the big firm. I will tell them that they were constantly forcing her to give away the land by threatening to kill her children. And when they found out that I was on her side, they threatened me also. And one day when they tried to kill Vijay Lakshmi I came to her rescue and during the process, the man accidently fell on his own knife. Vijay Lakshmi will testify it and her children will too, since they were also present during the incident. All you have to do is follow the plan.’
It was a good plan with a lot of loopholes but it was definitely possible to win with Vijay Lakshmi’s statement.
As Radhika reached home. She got a phone call. It was the nurse and it was bad news. Vijay Lakshmi was dead. She died of acute asthma attack. But Radhika had told her nurse to give the bronchodilators and the proper ventilation. She rushed to the hospital and found out that the medication administered by the nurse wasn’t sufficient enough. It was due to negligence that her patient died. And because Radhika was in charge of the nurse, and according to the “Captain of Ship Doctrine” the head of the unit is responsible for any negligence caused by any member of her unit. Radhika was trapped completely. Now she was facing double charges.
She was arrested and taken to jail. There was no proof that she hadn’t committed the crime, nor was the proof of not being responsible for the negligence.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend saw his plan work out beautifully. It was a master plan by him.
Actually Nikhil was aiming for the same plot as his friends, but soon realized that he didn’t have the money or the power to take on the big firm. So he decided to support his girlfriend. Then when the opportunity presented himself in the form of Radhika’s request to talk to them. He took it. He killed his friend in purpose and put up an emotional display in front of his girlfriend. He knew she would definitely fall for his acting. Then the only road block remaining was Vijay Lakshmi. That also he managed perfectly. He bribed one of the nurses to do the job. She did it to perfection. And her children, according to them Radhika was the one because of whom their mother died. Nikhil brainwashed them, promised them a small part of this massive land, to which they agreed as they had no choice and couldn’t battle any further. They were tired.
In the end Nikhil got what he wanted. And Radhika, she trusted her boyfriend blindly and now faced the consequences.

Larva to Butterfly.

Larva to butterfly. Larva to butterfly, Plethorically sound. But not him. Minutes, as he was reprimanded to us. A flaw plumm...
